Greetings from Chatter Creek Winery. I wanted to let you know about a special event coming up at the winery.
The event is the winery's June 19th barrel tasting. Some of you who attended the last barrel tasting two years ago are still talking about it. For those who weren't able to attend, this year's event promise to be an even bigger affair.
Have you ever been tempted to pour two wines together just to see what might happen? Have you ever wanted to see how wine blends are assembled? What is the thought process a winemaker goes through when planning the next great wine? What does a winemaker do during the spring if he doesn't play golf? This is your chance to find out.
Spring is when new red wines really begin to show the full potential of the vintage. It is also when the winemaker begins to plan the assemblage of the up-coming blends. Gordy Rawson, winemaker for Chatter Creek, has begun blending the 2003 wines and is very excited about what he sees so far.
The quality of the 2003 Syrah and Cabernet Franc, both destined for this fall's bottling, looks likely to surpass quality of the 2002 vintage. The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon is ready to bottle, and it is a wine so well balanced that it's hard to pick apart the five components that comprise the blend. Compare it to the 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon - awake after its winter slumber and nearly ready for blending.
June 19th is your chance to try your hand at the art of blending wine. Enjoy this rare opportunity to see all the components of all the wines, in barrel, before they are blended, as well as the opportunity to impress your friends and family with your extensive knowledge of wine.
The attached file has all the details about the tasting and directions to the winery.
